Job Vacancy - Chamber seeks to recruit Manager of Employment Affairs
MANAGER, EMPLOYMENT AFFAIRS
The Chamber of Shipping, located in London, is the trade association for the United Kingdom’s dynamic shipping industry, which contributes £13 billion to our GDP. It represents the interests of UK-based ship owners and operators to Government, Parliament, the EU and other national and international organisations including the International Maritime Organization and International Labour Organization.
We are seeking to recruit a new member of staff to join its team working in the busy and diverse area of Maritime Employment Affairs.
The postholder will be responsible for:
• liaising with members, Government, trade unions and other external organisations
• developing Chamber policy in the areas of employment and training legislation, industrial relations, taxation and National Insurance affecting seafarers, and occupational health and safety.
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level and/or hold a Chief Mate’s Certificate of Competency. He/she will also have experience of Maritime Human Resources, preferably in the HR department of a shipping company or as a Head of Department on board ship. The ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, write concisely, and meet deadlines is essential.

Salary: £40,000-42,000, plus benefits, dependent on skills and experience.
