Richard Baker, the face of BBC News, came out of retirement to speak at the Chamber of Shipping Annual Dinner at the London Hilton, Park Lane last night.
Close to 700 leaders of Britain’s high-tech and growing shipping industry gathered to celebrate a year of continued business success and growth in recruitment.
Also speaking at the event were Jim Fitzpatrick, the shipping minister, and David Dingle, the Chamber of Shipping President and Chief Executive of Carnival Corporation - owner of brands such as P&O Cruises, Ocean Village and Cunard Line.
VIP guests included Minister for Security, Lord Alan West; Minister of State at the Scotland Office, David Cairns MP; and the Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, Theresa Villiers MP; Timothy Kirkhope MEP, Conservative spokesman for Transport and Tourism.
